Are world events causing you to think more about God?

World Events
Dawn (froggie) asked:

As catastrophies happen on a scale like never before, and the world as the Bible puts it is waxing old, and even for someone who knows little about the Bible, you sense and realise that the world cannot go on the way it is going. The economic crisis etc - does these cause you to fear and turn your thoughts toward God?

Nope. It’s just Mother nature and crooked corporations. Nothing mysterious.

No. Being an agnostic, I believe that the existence of God is inherently unknowable. As a matter of fact, these world events don’t make me think about God at all. Our best bet is to think of real-world solutions to real-world problems, regardless of God.

nope, I await the collapse of the current society, and the “birth” of a new society that learns from past mistakes

No, and what makes you think the current natural and man-made disasters are unprecedented?

  6. By drasago on Jun 21, 2008 | Reply

Nope. As a matter of fact, contrary to popular opinion, catastrophes are not happening on a larger scale than ever…
The planet is not in ANY danger at all…and will most likely exist LONG after its kicked all of us off…or rather, we kill ourselves off. The economic crisis is an inevitable consequence of horrible economic practices and egregious republican waste…the fall of the USA is also according to history an inevitable conclusion…
None of this makes me think of god…just makes me laugh that it makes you think of god.

such things and even more serious had happened in that past. But no apocalypses.

No, but I see very clearly that these problems are caused by people who refuse to face reality because of an irrational belief in one or more gods.

Not at all. Sh*t happens all time and will continue to happen. God has nothing to do with it.

and signs of the last days..began some time ago..like the birthing PANGS of the HIDDEN SONS and DAUGHTHERS OF GOD..being TRANSFORMED..to obedienceness..and preparation.and delvierance..and healing…and more…
so when you see HOLY APOSTLES and HOLY PROPHETS OF POWER EPH 4:11+ you’ll see anohter sIGN POST, of united body of the bride of CHRIST..so she can be PREPARED
for the coming bridegroom..like the 10 HOLY VIRGIN souls, spirits..body mind
and 5 were ready to be invited to SUP
and the others..were NOT READY.and weeping..and gashing of the teeth/mouth..complaining..grumbling..ect.
JESUS is the KING of kings
    and LORD of lords.
were are the kings and lords?
    NOT YET.
BUT WILL COme..with POWER..(apostles, to teachers eph 4:11+ to PERFECT YOU and US)
so we’re ready for the rapture.that will come like a THIEF to them.who are NOT of GOD…very sudden.
so we got a decade or FEW..before CHRIST COME. but truly in your lifetime..if born after 1967.

These trying times require faith in Christ, and hopefully many of the souls who deny God will turn to Him before it is to late.

If a soul has understanding of the bible, then they would surely realize that all of these catastrophes are signs that the end of the age is near as prophesied in the bible as we see in Luke chapter 21.

    No.
World events are making me more aware and conscious regarding universal existential truth.

No, world events are not influencing my walk with God, since I pay no attention to world events. I think more about God these days because I have the blessing of good Bible teaching which is spelling out the exact timing of the close of the earth’s existence. If you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, based STRICTLY ON BIBLE TEACHING, that the catching away of God’s people to forever be with Him, will occur on May 21, 2011, wouldn’t you likewise be thinking more about God?

I can’t say it’s turned my thoughts toward God more because they’ve been on God for a very long time. But events of late as well as the hardness of the hearts of those I meet in unprecedented numbers, sure have drawn my attention back towards prophecy.

It also serves as a reminder that time is most definitely growing short and we must each do our best to spread God’s message to as many people as we can.

Praise God for them as far as I am concerned. It simply means what it means. The Lord made a promise to us that these signs would be present. That as they come be the more watchful. So, I look forward to the coming Kingdom. This world is about to be made new. The evil in this world is going to be defeated by Christ Himself. The evil will be destroyed soon. For one thousand years satan will be in chains and Gods people will be free from all the evil of his hands. After that for a while he will be loosed again. Then put in chains and cast into the lake of fire and all who have not the name of Jesus Christ will also.
Then a new earth and a new heaven will be ours. On it no more sea.

If you have read the book of Revelation you know this. Praise God for all the worlds storms and such! May Jesus Christ Keep you in His seal.

Well, I don’t think world events cause me to have my mind more on God, mainly because my Bible has already warned me about these things. The beginning of wisdom is to fear God, and that is only the beginning. We must watch and pray as we see the day approaching, when Jesus Christ will split the Eastern sky, and call all His children to come up hither. What a wonderful day that will be. My,my, I can only pray for all our lost people, as I sincerely hope all Christians are doing, for them to be saved….

It doesn’t cause me to fear just to believe in God’s word even more. Jesus said all these things must happen and will.

  19. By Gyrine77 on Jul 18, 2008 | Reply

It does not cause me fear because I have had my eyes on God since April 1974 when I ws saved.

Natural catastrophes and economic crisis’ are going to be the rule of the day from now on until the day that Jesus rides in with His Holy army of saints and angels and stops the nonsense.

Come quickly Lord Jesus, come quickly!

Not so much the world issues…they seem far away.

But the focus on money and the insecurity people have when they discover they aren’t in control…OH yeah!!

    2 Timothy 3:1-5
You should know this…there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and **** what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.

From information I have gathered “froggie” all the prophesies foretelling the end of days has been fulfilled except two and we are in the middle of one of thes now. Paul wrote to the chruch at Thessalonica about these last two and even then said before the rapture occurs there will come a great falling away(apostasy) and the man of sin be revealed. We are now looking for that man. If one of the men now running for presidency wins, keep a very close eye on him. The economics that you spoke of is in keeping with these things. A bubble will only get so big and it has to bust. A bubble began building at the end of the civil war and in twenty-nine it busted and life for most was hard scrabble at best. Economists since the ninties have been predicting a bust to occur between 2005 and 2010, but this time it will be world wide. This will be such a time of chaos it would be the seemingly ideal time for that demigog to arise. The scriptures declare he would destroy many with peace(he is not going to really be as he appears). This will be the man who will restore prosperity for he will prosper in crafts, but only for the majority who will take the mark. Yes, we are right on the edge. Every one is making long term plans, plans for tomorrow but as the word declares, we do not know what a day may bring.

Yes and no.. Yes because it is prophesy and No because the world has always been crazy.Take the Black Plaque for example. I have walked with the Lord for a long time. I believe it is possible for these to be the end days but then again it could be another 2000 yrs before Christs return.
I certainly will keep raising my children, going to church, and planting crops and making house payments ect… Cant say that I wouldn’t mind if he came right now though.Wouldn’t have to make that next car payment. SMILE
    God Bless.

There is no fear in the sons of God. Irregardless of what happens in the world around us we are still the sons of God and we will never die. My thoughts turn towards God because of my desire to be with Him.
