Does it mean anything to you that Obama made WORLD news?
October 24th, 2008 | by admin |MyOpinionOnly asked:
People across the world are celebrating with us - that’s how huge this win was. The world sees hope for change and peace. How does it feel to have the world watching our elections, and to celebrate with us?
I see some answers aren’t understanding - yes the world usually follows our elections, but they don’t always celebrate with us.

It feels amazing. I was truly proud to be an American yesterday and to be able to take part in such a crucial day in history.

Yes me and my co-worker were reading it today and I was quiet amazed at how now they have a little faith in the america government for change, in a positive way.

Uh, no, they’re not. The market has dropped several hundred points, Russia has already reneged on a missile treaty, and analysts are saying we’re headed for depression and placing it squarely in his lap.
Not sure where you get your news from, but you need to branch out just a tad. It made world news because it is world news. Maybe you just haven’t been around elections long enough to know that?

Well of course they are happy we are now on par with them. Just wait until the unemployment rate reaches 25 to 30% and we are all waiting in line to see a gov picked doctor and or to get food like all the other countries that Obama’s ideology comes from.
The rest of the world is happy because we no longer are number one.
We are all doomed!

I’m from the UK, and literally all day today its been his speech, mentioning MLKjr’s dream and how it is now relieved (perhaps?).
It does mean a lot and i am really happy that he won. The president affects the world, not just america.

Are you for real. All Presidential elections make world news. If you think Obama is the first to make world news you really are in the Obama bubble. Other countries have always followed our elections and Obama is not the first that other countries have shown either their excitement or disapproval.

to be honest, it doesn’t really mean anything to me, personally. it means alot to the usa though! especially the blacks. i am happy for obama :]
even though i wanted another candidate to win.

People celebrated when other presidents were elected as well. They have been watching for years and years and celebrating. They have celebrated when either Republicans or Democrats got in. Not news.
By Shauna on Nov 25, 2008 | Reply
Yeah they are celebrating because they know now that Obama will be president they can take over America and ruin it.
By Liz O on Nov 27, 2008 | Reply
I don’t believe they are celebrating because they want “peace”, I believe they are celebrating because we just elected a president who is in the pocket of several “seedy” people who would love to see nothing more than for America to FALL! Hope your celebration doesn’t end in regret. God bless America….pray for our country.

Yes. Most countries view this as a very positve thing as far as how we relate to the world. Maybe we vacation abroad without being kidnapped now. And it feels fantastic to have the bullseye shrink a little.

Hate to burst your bubble but the world has always watched the elections here, for their own self serving reasons. True enough, they may be more happy versus less happy now, but not because how it will affect our citizens. They only care how it affects their citizens/

Sure. America has always been something of an international pariah. In it’s early days, monarchists hated it, the Europeans seeing Americans as uncivilized scum. In the 20th Century, America emerged as a world power - ultimately, /the/ world power, at the end of the century - but that was a matter of military and economic might, not respect. In fact, that success bred even greater spite, not just among America’s sworn enemies, but among her nominal allies, as well.
All the world - the allies that dispise us, the enemies that **** us, and the more-or-less nutral parties who just resent us - is delighted to see a new, inexperienced, leader with conciliatory internationalist policies lined up to take the Presidency.

Yes it had me scared…The night before the election Bill Maher said their gonna be dancing in the streets like they did on September 11 and they were….
Barack is one more piece of the Illuminati plan for a One World Government and its working perfectly..
Who but a Black Christian Man, with 3 Muslim names and a White mother can have them dancing in the streets all over the world..
I want white people to stop being mad about this…If the Illuminati didn’t want him, all the votes in the world couldn’t get him in that office!
New World Order here we come….

I just wish he will live up to the hype. Maybe if he had more experience and wasn’t so fiscally liberal I would be more excited.

If you think that groups such as Al Qaida are happy that Obama won because they now perceive us as being weaker than what we already are is something to rejoice in, then you go ahead and celebrate, my friend. Personally, it frightens me to death. I can’t believe that people can be as blind as you are…! It’s time you faced reality, my dear…
And to ” B. Kevorkian ” : The word ” conciliatory ” means to give up. Is that what you want us to do? Evidently, it is, huh…?
” beiruti ” : Are you kidding me?!!! For years, there has been nothing but dialogue and all sorts of peace treaties involving your situation in Lebanon and none of it’s ever worked. And, do you know why it’s never worked? It’s because your leaders would rather live in a perpetual state of war than at peace. Also, it’ll never work until your leaders decide to give up their violent ways and live in peace. If you think Obama’s going to help you, then you’ve got another thing coming. He doesn’t care about you or what happens to you. From what I understand, he even plans to abandon Israel! I **** to tell you this, but you are on your own over there. Besides, Obama will be too busy ” screwing ” the American people to do anything about your plight…

I live in Lebanon and people are in love with obama here! I even have his posters in my room and there were fireworks in the streets when the results were announced at 6 AM! He will hopefully start to right the wrongs through dialogue instead of “cowboy diplomacy” and actually bring peace to our part of the world!
)
!!!!!! نعم نستطيع (Yes we can in arabic
The source is a really interesting article about Obamas wide range of support in Lebanon.
Article note: the quote “The American people are very generous. I don’t like it when people spit on them,” was poorly translated. in the arabic language we use the word “spit” meaning criticize. We dont literally spit on Americans here lol

It goes back to McCain’s concession speech. Right there in our Constitution it says that all men are created equal. And this country goes around the world telling everyone who will listen that all men are created equal. This election goes a long way toward us actually practicing what we preach.
