1939–Germans invade Poland after taking over part of Czechoslovakia.
Battle of the Bulge, google it.
Nuremburg Trials
U.S. Navy Cruiser Inidanapolis delivers A-bomb to Tinian, a Pacific island. Sunk by Japanese submarine, great suffering for long time before missing cruiser noticed. Few survive, horrible story.
