   There’s probably more than five, but a big one was the discovery of the North American continent by Europeans. It’s hard to say who did it, because more than one group claims to have done it, but needless to say it was a huge leap forward in the expansion of humans on the planet. It’s also hard to say who was here first or when they got here, because there is some thought that humans occupied North America 10,000 years ago, but the influx of Europeans after they first came over was huge.
