What do you think is the most important news regarding the world that has happened recently (1 week or so)?

world news
Simon Legree asked:

I’ve always been interested by what other thought would be considered “interesting” world news. So what have you seen recently that you think would be important?

The most important news event, although ongoing, which affects the United States and therefore the World is the fact that the Democrat controlled Senate and House are taking a stand against President Bush and his ill-conceived War in Iraq.

i would have to say the doomsday clock moving 2 minutes forward…. and the U.S. sending more troops into iraq when they should realy start looking somewhere else..also this kind of has to do with the whole doomsday scenario but… global warming ad climate change.

Yeah, there was a school in Northern Ireland, where a young lad of about 14/15 was beaten by another lad in the school playground. The ‘beater’ was arrested after the video recording taken form someone’s mobile phone was handed into the police. The young lad who was assaulted was curled up in a ball, whilst being kicked over and over. It was terrible.

Another, in Northern Ireland, there is a County, which the City Council calls Derry. But the ‘actual’ name in Londonderry. Now, this was taken to the courts by the people of Derry who wanted the name officially changed to Derry. The background to this place is that, although 70% of the people living in that area call their homeplace Derry, there is a huge Political and Religious reason for Londonderry, which is that Catholics call it Derry, Protestants call it Londonderry. However, it is a hugely Catholic County and the Judge did not take this into account at the trial. He quickly threw the case out of court. It was terribly unfair to the people of Derry…

The Pinkerton trail in Canada. This man was and still is a creepy monster. That’s because I’m Canadian and we normally don’t have monster stories like that. This guy is a pig.
