    *The unification of Germany - 1871
    *The Boer Wars - 1st one from 1880 to 1881 and 2nd from 1899 to 1902
    *Spanish-American war - 1898
    *WWI - 1914-1918

    I recommend you looking it up at Wikipedia. Here are some I could remember:
    - Anglo-Boers wars
    - Olympic games started again (1896)
    - Suffrage movement
    - Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905)
    - Revolution in Russia (1905)
    - Special relativity theory by Einstein (proposed 1905)
    - Radio invented
